Centers for Disease Control & Prevention 2003 report, Suicide is the #3 and #7 cause of death for children ages 15-24 and 5-14, respectively.
According to
Asante Health System, Latino teens now account for approximately 20% of reported AIDS cases among their age group even though they only represent 14% of the population.
Among children and teens ages 6-19, 15% (almost 9 million) are overweight and another 15% of ages 6-19 are considered at risk of becoming overweight.

Although overall school violence is declining, physical dating violence and forced sex have increased among NYC youth. The proportion of students reporting physical dating violence has increased from 6.5% in 1999 to 10% in 2005. The number of forced sex (rape) reports increased from 5.6% in 2001 to 7.5% in 2005.
